How to Become an Active Seller on the Very Friendly Sharks Website

This guide explains how to activate your account and begin selling items on our platform. We currently offer three distinct roles: buyer, Seller, and Business.

Changing Account Type:

Upon creating your account, your default role is 'Buyer'. However, as a buyer, you cannot list any items on our site and turn them into cash. Therefore, if you wish to start selling on our platform, you must activate your account and select the 'Seller' or 'Business' role from your account settings.

To do that, you must change your account into a seller or business account. Please remember that only actual businesses can register for a business account.

When you log into your account dashboard, you’ll see a warning on top of the screen that allows you to change account type or activate as a seller (this message can be permanently dismissed).

Before changing your account type, carefully consider all options as this decision cannot be changed once submitted.

Once you’ve filled in your details and clicked on “Activate Seller Account” YOU ARE NOT A SELLER YET. To finish the verification process, you must pass a mandatory Know Your Customer or Know Your Business Check (KYC and KYB, respectively).

KYC/KYB Checks:

A KYC/KYB check is a mandatory process that verifies a user's identity. All UK marketplace sellers must complete this check, as it’s mandatory, which allows them to withdraw their earnings and ensures AML compliance. We prioritize conducting this check before allowing a seller to commence selling. MANGOPAY, our payment provider, handles the automated process. You will only be charged for successful KYC checks, which will be refunded from future sales.

After uploading your documents and passing the verification process, the outcome will either be “validated” or “denied”.

Please note that MANGOPAY handles this verification process, so we’re not the ones deciding the outcome.

Denied KYC/KYB Verification:

If your verification was denied, you will receive a notification and an email informing you. On the account dashboard, you can see the reason for the rejection.

Just as the message states, if there’s an issue with the scan or photo you took you should try and re-upload your documents once more. If it will be denied a second time, we advise you to contact our support team directly and let them know of the issue that your validation has encountered.

Validated KYC/KYB Verification:

If the document is validated, a new box will pop up in your dashboard. Here you will be asked to link a bank card and transfer the required amount to confirm the card details are accurate. Please note that the charge is made by MANGOPAY and isn’t under our control.

But do not worry, this transfer is a temporary charge, and we will fully refund the amount into your website credit out of your first sales.

For KYC verification, the amount is £1.1, and for KYB, it’s £5.1. To find out more about these charges please have a look at our FAQs.

Publish Your Collection:

Now you are ready to fill up our collection with offers. Head over to the “My Collection” tab on your dashboard sidebar.

Here you can choose our most convenient method to upload items. Once you’ve uploaded or added your items to your collection these items will be marked as inactive.

This is to prevent people from making mistakes and putting live cards for sale when importing large quantities. It’s a failsafe for all sellers.

On the top, you can see active and inactive collection values. Active collection means cards visible to others on the site. Next to every item, you can also see whether the card is in a public collection (active) or in a private collection (inactive):

To activate items you have to choose them in your collection (you can choose all items in the category by ticking the box on top) or by choosing the select all items button.

Once you’ve selected all items we want to activate, click on “Publish Collection”.

And that’s it, now your items are live and everyone can see and purchase them.
